“The
wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor
and needy, and to slay such as be of upright conversation.” Psalm7:14
A drawn out sword is
an indication of the eagerness to do battle. The wicked are not only eager but ready
without provocation to pounce upon the upright.
The believer would be misinformed to think otherwise. The goodness of the righteous is the only irritation
the wicked needs to make use of the drawn sword. “The wicked have
drawn out the sword”
The technique
the wicked uses is as harsh as it can possible be. There is no shortcut, no weakness; they come
with full force to destroy. They have
chosen not only their sword but also the greatest bow with which they have to
bend with the foot because of its strength. “and have bent their bow”
Their
purpose is “to cast
down the poor and needy”. Their power overwhelms, they are too strong for the upright. When the upright fights under their own power
they are defeated. “to
slay such as be of upright conversation.”
I’ve
tried to understand,
The way
of the wicked.
Without provocation,
They’ve
come to destroy.
Their
power is too great.
On my
own I’ll be defeated.
I’ll ask
my Strong Savior,
For His
angels to deploy.
"If
ye were of the world, the world would love its own: but because ye are not of
this world, but I have chosen you our of the world, therefore the world hateth
you." John 15:19
