“The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him
with his teeth.” Psalm 37:12
There is a different way of approach for
the wicked than there is for the just. The just depend on God to fight their
battles while the wicked depend on themselves.
This verse speaks of the wicked and their
approach. They “plotteth”, that is they scheme not only as one but they caucus
together making their plans for the defeat of the “just”. “The wicked plotteth against the just”
They lack manners and go to any degree to
accomplish their wicked plans. Truth has
nothing to do with their advance; they will do anything to get their way no
matter who it hurts. They are subtle like
their father the devil. They are as the magician
who with the slight of hand deceives. “and gnasheth
upon him with his teeth.”
The wicked rage against us
Plotting to destroy.
With slanderous opposition
They really do enjoy.
Yet the just shall not be beaten,
The Lord is at their side.
He brings them through the battle.
The Lord has justified.
“All your enemies open their mouths against you. They hiss
and gnash their teeth, saying, "We have swallowed her up. This is the day
for which we have waited. We have lived to see it!" Lamentations 2:16
