The Lust of The Eye

“A Psalm of David. Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.” Psalm 37:1

It’s easy to look at another and wonder why they have so much more than  we have. It can even get to a point that we get angry.  It seems much worse when the one that has so much more is living for themselves and not the LORD!  The lust of the eye is an attempt of the devil to draw you away from perfect peace. Never be fooled into thinking the lost world has more than you do! “Fret not thyself because of evildoers”

If we are not careful we can work ourselves into a frenzy and have a pity party.  Instead of being envious we ought to be heart broken over the unfortunate situation of the lost.  These folks are being led to hell, being satisfied with what the world has to offer.  Take your eyes off the riches of the world and put them on the riches we have in CHRIST.  We have a “permanent foundation, whose builder and maker is GOD.” “neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.”

Sometimes I’m on fire,
Over the riches of the fool.
Watching all they have,
Makes a body drool.

But when I’ve thought about it,
And understand their state.
I’d never want to be in their place,
Or ever imitate.

“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.” 1 John 2:15-17
