Faith Wipes Shame

“Let me not be ashamed, O LORD; for I have called upon thee: let the wicked be ashamed, and let them be silent in the grave.” Psalm 31:17

Any decision the believer makes separate from the guidance of GOD will cause failure and failure most defiantly causes shame.  We broadcast to the world of our dependence upon GOD and at the same time try to take on our troubles without Him.  The world asks, ‘Where is your GOD?’ and we hang our heads in shame because we have misrepresented Him.  Our dependence on self wipes from our heart the essence of real worship, “The just shall live by faith”. “Let me not be ashamed, O LORD;”

The substance of our faith is revealed in the evidence of GODs answer.  When our faith is weak our answers will be likewise.  When we step out in faith and trust the One that promised an answer, the answer will most certainly come with the evidence it is from the Most High. “for I have called upon thee:”

It is the wicked that is to be ashamed not the believer.  The wicked maneuver their own lives, the believer allows GOD to have control over theirs.  We step back into the camp of the wicked when we live our lives without faith. “let the wicked be ashamed”

The voice of the one that lives by faith speaks forever.  Their words will be heard for an eternity.  They will glorify their GOD around His throne in His presence.  As far as the wicked are concerned, “let them be silent in the grave.”

The only shame I’ve ever felt,
Was caused by me alone.
But when I put my trust in GOD,
My shame is overthrown.

GOD closes the mouths of sceptic fools
When in His Word, I faithfully trust.
I’m lifted up to GOD’ throne above
While the sceptic to the grave is thrust.

“For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.” Romans 1:17

Look Up, GOD Looks Out

“Make thy face to shine upon thy servant: save me for thy mercies' sake.” Psalm 31:16

Have you ever felt so low the only thing you could do is lookup?  I have and as a matter of fact it was recent.  We find ourselves as the children of Israel when they faced the Red Sea.  Trapped on every side, the sea in front, impassable on the left and right and Pharaoh’ army gaining on them.  Thank GOD there is only one way to go. “Make thy face to shine upon thy servant:”

We try on our own in waisted effort to control the situation but all turns to not.  We grasp and claw trying to find a way out but dig ourselves in deeper.  We must admit to ourselves the weakness we have.  We must look up to the One that will look out for us, The LORD JESUS who brings us His mercy.save me for thy mercies' sake.”

There is a wanting in my soul,
To be given solace sweet.
To take me from this place I’m in,
To be back at the Savior’s feet.

Oh my soul, I cry dear Lord,
Hear this weak and weary one.
Bring me back to the place I was
When we had first begun.

“Therefore say thou unto them, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Turn ye unto me, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will turn unto you, saith the LORD of hosts.” Zechariah 1:3

GOD Gives a Hand

My times are in thy hand: deliver me from the hand of mine enemies, and from them that persecute me.” Psalm 31:15

What greater joy could there be than having the promise you are held in the hand of God?  To know when things are getting tough your are in the safety of GODs hand.  When you rejoice and are happy you are in the Masters hand.  What ever the occasion it makes no difference, there you are in all times held in the hand of GOD. My times are in thy hand:”

Is there anything that can hurt the one held in GODs hand?  Its there anyone able to reach in and pull you out of GODs hand? No and of course not!  The Believer is held in the safest place possible.  We may have to face some fires but we will never be burnt.  “deliver me from the hand of mine enemies, and from them that persecute me.”

Gods hand is never empty,
It is full of all my times.
Sad or happy, it is Christ that holds me.
Held so gently in the palm of His hand.

There is no reason to wonder or worry.
There is no reason to run and hid.
In His hand I’m held, oh so tightly.
Never letting go, I’m in the Saviors hand.

I feel the warmth of His caring.
I feel the tenderness that He shows.
I’m delighted in Jesus that holds me.
I’m held close in the Masters hand.

“And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.” John 10:28

The One that Could

But I trusted in thee, O LORD: I said, Thou art my God.” Psalm 31:14

Much sorrow comes while we are in the battle.  We can be overtaken with fear or even brought to such a low place that we want to give up.  Just let it all go, and quit.  Quitting is never the answer.  Quitting will only bring you to a lower place than you already are.  Why quit when you have won?  The answer to this dilemma is understanding as a believer, you have won!  Accept the victory, trust the Victor. But I trusted in thee, O LORD:”

I have tried many a way to change the battles I’m in.  I’ve trusted each way I thought was good, but I dug deeper in.  Until I realized I wasn’t winning at all and trusted the One that could.  I was hopelessly doomed to lose the fight.  So I trusted the One that could. “Thou art my God.”

There is a lesson we can learn
From  all our trials and fears.
There are none to big to shake our faith,
And bring our hearts to tears.

We have a Savior strong and sure
Who is with us in all our plights.
Knowing all the steps we take,
He brings us through all our fights.

Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.” Ephesians 3:20-21

The Vipers Venom

“For I have heard the slander of many: fear was on every side: while they counsel together against me, they devised to away my life” Psalm 31:13

Better are the words of the pure in heart than those of the slanderous person.  Malicious gossip is worse than fire in a dry field.  It will start with a spark but soon surrounded you with flames. “For I have heard the slander of many: fear was on every side:”

The mouths of those that choose to vilify and assassinate the character of another are full of the vipers venom.  Gathered together they devise ways to spread scandalous stories upon their prey. “they counsel together against me”

The mind of those that spread gossip are deceived into thinking what they are doing is right, but it never is.  There has never risen an occasion when it is right to lie or exaggerate the shortcomings of another.  We would be wise to listen to my grandmother that used to say, “If you can’t say something nice about a person, keep quite” ~ Esther Prader

I hear their words that tarnish and taint.
Hard pressed deception without restraint.

Everywhere lies seem to fly and flow.
Teasing the minds of the foolish foe.

They laugh and clap at the scandalous talk.
Where can I hid from their malicious stalk?

“Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah.” Psalm 32:7

Valley of Despondency

“I am forgotten as a dead man out of mind: I am like a broken vessel.” Psalm 31:12

Our circumstances can carry us to places we don’t want to be. Our thoughts can lead us into deep valleys of depression.  Valleys that seem hard to claw our way out of.  We try to understand our condition and dig ourselves deeper into the pit of despondency. “I am forgotten as a dead man out of mind:”

We wonder of the past, the good we have done.  Where is the response from those we have helped?  Where have they all gone?  Why have they forgotten? The fact may be, they don’t know of your trouble.  They can’t read your heart, like GOD can.  If we aren’t careful we become shipwrecked. “I am like a broken vessel.”

Apply your to heart the Word of GOD.  If we consider what GOD thinks more than what man thinks, we will be much better off.  Despondency spell will leave and the SPIRIT of GOD will return the joy to your heart.

Out of sight and out of mind,
This my life reveals.
Cast down below the sea I am.
In a land of no appeals.

This is the thought, of broken men.
Whom seemed to have lost their way.
All alone, and out of sight.
Like pottery, of broken clay.

This state of mind, will soon be loosed.
If on the LORD you’ll lean.
Where ever you are, or wherever you go,
Nothing can come between.

“Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:”
1 Peter 5:6

Never Gone, Never Forgotten

To all that read my blog and these posts, understand that I take the verses in the order they come.  I started with Psalm 1:1 and have went verse by verse since that time.  While I believe there is good spiritual content in my writings they are not to be considered commentary but rather the thoughts I have after prayer and meditation.

Never Gone, Never Forgotten

“I am forgotten as a dead man out of mind: I am like a broken vessel.” Psalm 31:12

While there are many things that are more stressful, there are few that cause the heart to ache as much as the feeling of being forgotten about.  I believe we all need to know others care and have need for us.  Many times this feeling of being forgotten is in our minds but it doesn’t make it any easier to deal with it. “I am forgotten as a dead man out of mind:”

The mind begins to play tricks on us.  We wonder what we did to deserve the separation we now have.  What did I do?  There must have been a misunderstanding.  Where did they all go that used to be at my side, they that admired and followed me? We think ourselves into a pit, a pit so deep it becomes hard to climb out. “I am like a broken vessel.”

Hear the answer to your heartache and troubles.  There is one, “that sticketh closer than a brother.”  One that has promised, ’I will never leave you nor forsake you.’  When all others leave, He will be there, never gone, never forgotten!  JESUS, always and forever!  Trust Him today!

I looked around and they were gone,
All those I thought that loved me.
They disappeared and left me behind,
I’m hurt with their insincerity.

But there is One who never leaves,
He sticks closer than a brother.
When I look behind, He’s always there
And peace, He’ll always usher.

“Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.” John 14:1-4

Are you a Leper?

“I was a reproach among all mine enemies, but especially among my neighbours, and a fear to mine acquaintance: they that did see me without fled from me.” Psalm 31:11

Ever felt like everyone was against you?  Sometimes it seems like there is no place to go where you will be wanted, not even by those closest to you. We can expect disappointment and disdain from our enemies but it hurts the most when it’s comes from those that are closest to us. “I was a reproach among all mine enemies, but especially among my neighbours,”

Sometimes we feel like we are all alone in our misery.  We feel alienated from others.  No one seems to want to be around us or have anything to do with us.  We feel like the leper, put out of the camp. “a fear to mine acquaintance: they that did see me without fled from me.

I have drawn the conclusion to the matter in this way.  We are in this condition for either of two reasons.  1. We are living for the LORD, not allowing the things of the world to get in-between us and Him.  2. We feel this way because of sin in our lives, un-confessed sin of the past as well as sin of the present.  Sin haunts us and destroys our relationships.

Where have they gone, all my friends?
My heart has sunk, to utter ends.
I feel abandoned, no one to care.
Please help me LORD from my despair.

Where have they gone, that loved me so?
My heart is broken, I have no place to go.
Forgive me LORD, for the things I’ve done,
And to Your sweet grace, help me run.

“See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” Ephesians 5:15-16
