Just a Moment

“For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.” Psalm 30:5

I find great relief in knowing the anger of GOD only lasts for a moment.  If it was longer than that I’m sure I would not be able to cope with it and would die in anguish. “For his anger endureth but a moment;”

The opposite of a moment is, forever.  While our troubles may seem like they last a life time, they are but for a moment.  Our GOD isn’t a moment god, He is an Everlasting GOD.  We have a life sentence in our SAVIOR. When we compare life and a moment there is a mountain of difference.  In a feeble attempt it would be like comparing a drop of water to the oceans of the world. “in his favour is life:”

The heartbreak and sorrowers of life bring weeping but the joy of the LORD is our strength.  For those that have placed their trust in CHRIST, “joy comes in the morning”  We must not hold on to sorrows.  We must give them to the LORD and live.  There are to many hanging on to their pain when they can have joy through JESUS!

There came a storm, upon my heart,
And great fear took over my soul.
Everything wrong, nothing was right.
How desperately I needed to be whole.

Oh listen my friend, don’t be faint.
The storm will soon be gone.
Your joy will return, pease will come,
Through CHRIST a new day will dawn.

“Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength.” Nehemiah 8:10

Join The Choir

“Sing unto the LORD, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.” Psalm 30:4

It is delightful to wake to the sound of birds singing, all the birds chirping and cheering.  It’s a happy beginning to a new day.  A new day to live, a new day to testify to the world of GODs grace and kindness.  “Sing unto the LORD”

“Sing unto the LORD, O you saints of His”, Sing like the birds, sing of the glory of GOD.  Sing to the world the wonderful things the LORD has done for you. Oh listen saints of GOD, your singing should come natural, as natural as it is for the bird.  If it isn’t there is something wrong with your chirper.

Every thought of what the LORD has done should put a spring in your step and a song in your heart.  My mind wanders back to the day of my salvation and my heart is lifted up and I sing like the sound of the choir, singing in thankfulness.  I love to sing of all GOD has done for me. “give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.”

The bird sings to the world and so should we.  If we only sing to ourselves we are the only one that reaps the benefit.  Sing that others can hear of the marvels grace of GOD.  Share the song so those that so desperately need it can hear and join the choir.

I heard the birds chirping,
Early in the morn.
There song so delightful,
Life had been reborn.

They wanted all to listen
To the song they had to sing.
The song of all GODs glory,
Of the goodness He can bring.

“But I will sing of thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning: for thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble.” Psalm 59:16

Walking Dead

“O LORD, thou hast brought up my soul from the grave: thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.” Psalm 30:3

It is easy for the child of GOD to understand this statement.  “O LORD, thou hast brought up my soul from the grave:”  Before trusting CHRIST we were the walking dead and nothing more.  We are those, “who were dead in trespasses and sins;”. (Eph. 2:1)

We never knew what life was until we were, “born again”.  We thought we knew life, but until we tasted full salvation we had no idea what life really was. “Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:” (Eph. 2:2)  But now through CHRIST “thou hast kept me alive”

How sad it is for those that believe what they have now is life, not knowing that only through the grace of GOD can they experience what life truly is.  They might receive some satisfaction by their dead works of kindness but in the end they have never know life.  JESUS is the "Way, the Truth and the LIFE"!  CHRIST and Him alone gives life, “that I should not go down to the pit.”

Life is just the opposite
Then you might even think.
We’re all born dead,
Sitting at Hell’s brink.

In sin we’re born dead.
Thinking we have life.
Walking in the world
In all its sin and strife.

O but JESUS gave His all,
On that cross of death.
Dying in our place,
Giving lasting breath.

“But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:” Ephesians 2:4-6

MY GOD

“O LORD my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me.” Psalm 30:2

There is no greater statement one can make that has more power then to say, “O LORD my GOD”  When you can say this you have conquered all, and won everything there is to have.  You are a winner when you can say, JESUS CHRIST is “My personal SAVIOR”.

We live in a land of many troubles.  We are faced with things we are not able to cope with on our own.  It is wonderful to have family and friends we can depend on for sympathy but sympathy won’t heal the problem.  It is comforting to have the support they bring but when our personal GOD hears our cry, HE heals.  “I cried unto Thee”

Temporary fixes are a relief, but my GOD heals.  The LORD uses what He chooses to heal and restore.  He may use the doctor, medicine or boom it’s done.  Our part is to live by faith, believe Him for what He has said.  Mark it down, it is finished. “Thou hast healed me”

I’ve longed for relief
Of sorrowers I had.
Yearning to find help.
My life was so sad.

Others were helpful
In efforts to assist.
Comfort and caring,
But sorrowers persist.

There was only one place
I could find my consolation.
I found it in my JESUS
Who brought vindication.

Clams Don't Talk

“A Psalm and Song at the dedication of the house of David. I will extol thee, O LORD; for thou hast lifted me up, and hast not made my foes to rejoice over me.” Psalm 30:1

What we lift up and praise is what is at the center of our heart.  What is on our heart is we talk about.  We want to boost and show off what we have.  We gather friends together telling them of our gains.  We take pictures of what we have and distribute them for all to see.  Yet when it comes to giving GOD the glory and praise He deserves our mouths are are shut up tight as a clam shell. What is on your heart? “I will extol thee, O LORD”

I have had some complain that I talk to much of what the LORD is doing for me.  I had a professor in Bible School tell me I was going to go crazy if I didn’t stop praying and reading my Bible so much.  An English teacher asked me to start writing about something other then my testimony.  This is and was an impossibility for me to do now and then.  Listen my friends, if what happened to me has happened to you, there would be no way to keep your mouth shut. “Thou hast lifted me up”

All those that gloated over my failings have failed to conquer my soul.  CHRIST has lifted me out of deaths hand, He has placed me on higher ground and defeated all my enemies.  “O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?”  The sorrows of this place has no effect on my soul!  I’m free through JESUS. “Thou hast not made my foes to rejoice over me.”

My heart was lifted
As a desert rose.
From parched land
It’s beauty grows.

Forever thankful
I’ll express delight.
Through my JESUS
I’ve won the fight.

I’ll tell my story
Forever more.
In parched land,
To Heavens door.

“He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.” Psalm 40:2

Peace in Fear

“The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace.” Psalm 29:11

The effect of hearing the voice of GOD is two fold.  While both bring fear, only one brings peace with the fear.  One wants to run and hid while the other feels the safety of GOD.

At all times GOD is in control, over everything. He brings the storm and He calms the storm.  He shakes the earth with His voice.  The unbeliever is terrified for their life but the believer knows GOD is in control, He is always there for the saints.

The moral of the Psalm is this, when you hear the voice of GOD, don’t run from Him, run to Him!

I’ve heard the wind howl.
I’ve seen the sky turn dark.
I’ve watched the big trees fall,
So fierce they lost their bark.

I’ve seen the waters rage,
Streams and rivers overflow.
The land went under water,
There seemed, not a place to go.

I’ve seen great bolts of lightning,
Flashing in the darkened sky.
Sounds of the cracking thunder,
Brought fear to the ear and eye.

But there was a tranquil feeling,
That led me from my fear.
GOD will bless His people,
And GOD is always near.

Constant Control

“The LORD sitteth upon the flood; yea, the LORD sitteth King for ever.” Psalm 29:10

The Great Flood was an intentional act of GOD.  The strong east wind that opened the Red Sea was the intentional act of GOD.  It was GOD that sent the small cloud, the size of a mans hand, Elijah saw.  GOD brought rage to the waters of the sea so He could calm them.  GOD is in control of the rain drop and He breaths the wind in the direction it blows. “The LORD sitteth upon the flood”

To take the elements of nature out of the had of the ALMIGHTY is foolishness. He created them and uses them as He pleases.  Things don’t just happen, because they happen, GOD is in control!  And yes, He still uses His creation today!  “The LORD sitteth King for ever.”

When the children of GOD
Fled from Pharaohs wrath.
GOD used the east wind,
To clear their path.

The waters raged and
JESUS spoke them still.
He walked upon them,
At His own will.

GOD is in control
Of everything.
The wind and rain,
The fall and spring.

GLORY

“The voice of the LORD maketh the hinds to calve, and discovereth the forests: and in his temple doth every one speak of his glory.” Psalm 29:9

The end result of the voice of GOD is it brings dismay, distress, amazement, astonishment, alarm, panic, fear, fright and shock and none that occupy the earth are alienated from its effect. Whether it be one as timid as a deer or the supposed most powerful.  None are left unaffected when GOD speaks. “The voice of the LORD maketh the hinds to calve”

The voice of GOD strips the bark from the forest and also that of man.  He uncovers and shows our nakedness and our shame.  GOD removes the leaves and the branches, He strips us clean, there is nothing left but bones.  “discovereth the forests:”

All creation large and small shout out, Glory to GOD!  The little blades of grass in the violence of the storm wave themselves saying, “Glory”  The greatest of trees throws off its branches and leaves, each one shouting, Glory to the power of GOD.  His voice is in the waters with a rushing roaring sound, you hear them say, Glory to the ALMIGHTY.  The clouds rumble and shout, Glory.  Each bolt of lightening lights the sky and with a thundering voice cries, Glory, all Glory to the Highest! “in his temple doth every one speak of his glory.”

I’ve watch as the winds blew strong.
I couldn’t see the wind, but its effect.
Trees left barren, branches gone.
Now a stake is all that is left.

GODs voice I heard, the earth it shook,
As thunder went through the sky.
No longer did I see a barren stake,
But a cross where The SON would die!

I raise my hands toward Heaven now.
And on bended knee I say.
Glory to the SON of GOD
Who took my sin away!

“I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, first to the Jew, then to the Greek.” Romans 1:16

GODs Tornado

“The voice of the LORD shaketh the wilderness; the LORD shaketh the wilderness of Kadesh.” Psalm 29:8

The voice of GOD shakes the earth and what occupies it.  Nothing can escape His voice.  It sounds as the rage of the tornado, it shakes all in its path.  It tears down what man builds.  It destroys everything that is not built on a good foundation.

The power of the Gospel of CHRIST is the tornado GOD uses to bring the lost out of the wilderness of sin and unrighteousness. Nothing else will due.  All other methods will vanish, they will be uprooted thrust into hell.

I have walked through the wilderness
I’ve felt its agony and its pain.
Its struggles were ever before me.
I was walking in pride and shame.

Then I heard the Gospel of JESUS
And the power of His voice.
It shook the ground before me.
He gave me another choice.

JESUS led me across the river Jordan.
To a land He had prepared.
Out of the wilderness I came running.
From pain and agony I was spared.

Arrows of Fire

“The voice of the LORD divideth the flames of fire.” Psalm 29:7

The sound of the voice of GOD echoes through the sky. He speaks with lighting words that pierce and divide.  His voice lights the sky even during the daylight, its brilliance and power are ever ready.

When GOD directs His Word it strikes its intended target.  It never misses, it never fails.  He splits the oak in pieces, He lays it on the ground.  Like arrows of fire it penetrates the hardest of surfaces.

GOD pulls from His fetter,
Lightening of fire.
He points to the objective,
He’ll never misfire.

His voice like fire bolts,
That fly through the sky.
Always hitting the target,
Never wandering by.

“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12

The Winds of Fury

“He maketh them also to skip like a calf; Lebanon and Sirion like a young unicorn.” Psalm 29:6

The temper of GODs voice causes the greatest of trees to skip along the field as if they were dandelions blown in the calmest of winds.  Every word He breaths brings the winds of furry.  GOD pulls them from their roots!  “He maketh them also to skip like a calf;”

No power can compare to GODs voice.  He moves the mountain and causes the earth to quake.  The ground shakes when He speaks.   Effortlessly He moves the earth, He speaks and it is done!  With ease He moved, “Lebanon and Sirion like a young unicorn.”

GOD speaks and His voice is heard.
From the east and to the west.
There is no way to deny His presence.
The earth moves upon His request.

He breathes a word the tree is moved.
It tumbles along the way.
Mountains are moved from place to place,
Like a bunny out to play.

Psalm 46

1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

2Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;

3Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.

4There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High.

5God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.

6The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted.

7The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.

8Come, behold the works of the LORD, what desolations he hath made in the earth.

9He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire.

10Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

11The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.

Speak to me JESUS

“The voice of the LORD breaketh the cedars; yea, the LORD breaketh the cedars of Lebanon.”  Psalm 29:5

The voice of GOD has power beyond any other power.  When He speaks not only does every head turn, but His power breaks the high and lofty and brings them to their knees.  He puts fear in the heart of all that hear His voice. “The voice of the LORD breaketh the cedars”

Those that feel they are invincible are cut down just as the mighty “cedars of Lebanon”.  GOD speaks with the fire of the lighting bolt and the sound of His thunder shakes what He is aiming at!  Only the fool would deny the voice of GOD!  “yea, the LORD breaketh the cedars of Lebanon.”

Those that have yielded to GODs voice find peace in it.  They have the understanding of His power and might but they fear GOD in a different respect. They hear victory in His voice and have confidence in His Word. Speak to me JESUS!

I saw the light that lit the dark sky.
GOD’s voice came thundering down.
I saw some run overcome with fear.
And yet others without a frown.

I stood amazed at this sight I saw,
My heart began to throb.
I couldn’t help but be thankful now,
I had given my heart to GOD!

“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” John 14:27

Have You Heard

“The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty.” Psalm 29:4

When GOD speaks His power is evident, even the deaf will hear.  The thunder shakes the sky, His voice vibrates the earth and the lighting bolt describes His power and might. “The voice of the LORD is powerful”

The majesty of GODs voice lifts Him to the place of Lord of lords and King of kings.  While His voice is heard by the ear it also penetrates the heart of all mankind.  Some to accept Him and live and others to run and die.  It is never a mistake when GODs voice is heard. “The voice of the LORD is full of majesty”

The earth shook, I heard GODs voice.
I fell upon my face.
The darkened sky was turned to bright,
As Lightning filled the space.

Oh the power that filled my heart,
When GOD spoke on that day.
The majesty of His voice was felt.
His love was in full display.

“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:” John 10:27
